I tried this face mask from La Mer, and here are my impressions.
WHAT THE BRAND SAYS
In just 8 minutes, your skin will look healthier and fresher, with a wonderful glow. This treatment, made with patented ferments, neutralizes free radicals to help defend the skin against external factors that accelerate aging.
MY OPINION
This mask is different from others I’ve used because it’s not for cleansing, so it’s not a preparatory step but more of a finishing, hydrating step. Its texture is like an emulsion and can be applied with your fingers, unlike thicker masks that require a tool. You could also use a spatula or brush, but honestly, it’s easy to apply with your fingers and massage in the excess after 8 minutes.
You don’t need too much product, especially if you plan to wear makeup afterward, to avoid leaving an uncomfortable film or causing the mask to pill (peel off in little bits). I think it would appeal to those who prefer a glowy finish, especially for naturally dry skin types. I wouldn’t recommend it as much for oily skin for the same reason.
It has a pleasant and non-invasive scent, which is important in a mask because a strong fragrance can be off-putting. All in all, it’s a lovely mask for anyone looking to treat themselves to a luxury product, and it should last a long time. Personally, I wouldn’t spend money on it, but since I have it, I use it (I received it while working for the brand).
- Doesn’t require rinsing.
- A little goes a long way, so it lasts a long time.
- Leaves a pleasant feeling and can even be used overnight as an occlusive since it doesn’t need to be rinsed off.
Cons:
- Very expensive.
- Contains many ingredients, so I’m not entirely sure it’s the best option for reactive skin. In case of an allergy, it would be hard to pinpoint the triggering ingredient.
